Berens represented an officer in 2023 at McChord Field.  The officer was found not guilty on all but one charge – an allegation that she disrespected a superior officer.  The command had the opportunity to do the right thing and dismiss the conviction, but failed to do so.  Instead, the command took the vindictive approach of no action.  This was, in the opinion of many, a true abuse of authority and it reflects how unfair the system can be.
